Our Services
PPI provides comprehensive Geotechnical Engineering, Subsurface Drilling, Construction Materials Testing, and Environmental Services, supported by certified labs and a fleet of eight drilling rigs. Their Environmental, Geophysical, and Specialty Capabilities offer additional expertise, allowing quick response to environmental concerns and subsurface investigations. PPI also has specialized equipment for unique testing and forensic investigations.
Geotechnical Engineering
Geotechnical Engineering is the cornerstone of PPI’s business. PPI’s engineering staff is comprised of local and regional experts in the discipline, who are invested in the communities in which they live and work. PPI’s engineering staff has project experience with many of the most challenging and noteworthy Projects in the Region.
Subsurface Drilling
PPI’s Drilling Services Department includes ten (10) drill rigs, extensive tooling and support equipment, and numerous experienced Lead Drill Operators. PPI’s Project Management staff is skilled at designing and executing subsurface investigation programs tailored to nearly any geologic setting and project type.
Construction Materials Testing
Construction Materials Testing is a critical component of quality Site Development and Building Construction Projects. Construction Materials Testing Services provide a Quality Control check for Contractors, and Quality Assurance for Project Owners and Design Engineers.
Laboratory Testing
PPI maintains extensive, certified laboratories for completion of soils, aggregate, concrete, and asphalt testing. PPI’s Laboratory Testing Resources include:
- AASHTO Certified Laboratories in Springfield, Missouri Headquarters [AASHTO R18, Soils, Aggregate, Concrete, Asphalt, Masonry, and Fireproofing – AASHTO Website – PPI Springfield];
- USACE Certified Laboratories in Springfield, Missouri Headquarters [USACE MTC Website]
- Full-service Construction Materials Testing Laboratories in Branson and Joplin, Missouri;
- Extensive Geotechnical Soils Laboratory Capabilities, including consolidation, triaxial, direct shear, permeability, and classification testing;
- Construction Materials Testing Soils Laboratories equipped to process Proctor compaction tests quickly;
- Aggregate, Concrete, and Asphalt Laboratories equipped for comprehensive aggregate source evaluation, concrete and asphalt mix design, and concrete and asphalt analysis.
Enviromental Services
PPI offers a wide range of Environmental Services to Clients in the Public and Private Sectors.
PPI has completed hundreds of Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) in accordance with ASTM D 1527, ASTM E 1903, ASTM E 2247, the EPA’s AAI Rule, and the requirements of various government agencies. PPI has five (5) professional staff, all engineers or geologists, who have appreciable ESA experience and meet the EPA’s requirements for an Environmental Professional (EP).
Geophysical Services
PPI’s Geophysical Services Department was created in 2014 in response to a Client’s need to evaluate foundation bearing capacity at remote Project Sites with minimal site disturbance. Since 2014, PPI has compiled a lengthy geophysical project resume using a combination of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), Near Surface Seismic methods, and Resistivity Testing methods. PPI has geophysical testing experience includes numerous karst studies, seismic site class ratings, sites with restricted excavation requirements, sites with slope failures, and sites with mine features. PPI’s karst experience also includes studies of caves and sinkholes, including sinkhole rim determination studies.
Specialty Services
PPI has developed a variety of Specialty Services in response to the needs of our Clients. Specialty Services can typically be classified within a main department, such as Subsurface Drilling or Construction Materials Testing, but are discussed separately since they allow PPI to offer a unique capability or increased depth of expertise.
